ABOUT JOHN E. KOTSATOS …

In 2015, after working for 16 years for a large regional law firm, John opened his own law firm to devote his practice to helping individuals and communities who have been harmed or injured in a way where life is no longer the same for them.

Since opening his office, John has used his complex litigation experience from his large law firm days and his compassion for those who have been hurt to handle various and numerous matters involving personal injury (auto accident, slip-and-fall, premise liability, and dog bite cases), wrongful death, products liability, pharmaceutical, medical malpractice and asbestos (mesothelioma) as well as dealing with any ancillary issues which may arise like insurance claims, subrogation interests or liens asserted by CMS (Medicare) and/or the PA Department of Health & Human Services.

When he first started handling wrongful death cases in 2003, John also assisted family members with probating the plaintiff-decedent’s estate so the underlying cause of action could be further pursued in court. Given this knowledge, John continues to perform simple estate work (formulating Last Will & Testament, Power-of-Attorney, Healthcare Power-of-Attorney and Living Will) as well as probating estates from start to finish.

In 2007, John was assigned an environmental case of first impression which ultimately progressed to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. This initial case served as the springboard for John to begin litigating environmental cases in Pennsylvania and throughout the country.

To date, John still teams up with his environmental law colleagues to help individuals and communities who have been detrimentally impacted. In doing so, John has handled cases involving sewage sludge (biosolids), hydraulic fracturing (fracking), landfills, water pollution, concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), pipelines and food processing residual (FPR).

In May of 2023, given his proximity to the Northampton County Courthouse, John joined the County’s Conflicts Counsel. Then, in July of 2024, he accepted a position with the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office where he presently works as a part-time assistant district attorney..
